YOU'RE STARING ME DOWN, A GLANCE MAKES ME WEAK. The steam of the shower enveloped around Esmerelda, making her breathe in hot air and the beat of her heart increase. She sighed and turned the scorching water off. She grabbed her white towel off the top of the shower and wrapped it around herself before she stepped out and onto the rug. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, waiting for her heart beats to slow. When they did, she walked over to the mirror, grabbed her make up remover, and worked on removing the smeared make up from under her eyes. Esmerelda was taking her own time with getting ready for a change. She knew where she was going and she knew Crew wouldn't care when she showed up. When she was done with running a tooth brush over her teeth and getting the make up off her face, Es walked into her closet. She scanned through the what seemed like hundreds of clothes hanging from their racks. She wasn't looking to get all dressed up like she usually did. No, just a simple outfit was fine. She grabbed a pair of gym shorts from the pile on the ground, and then grabbed an oversized shirt she had mostly used just for sleepovers. She got dressed and then wrapped her hair in a fresh towel, tossing it onto her head. This was basically all she needed, right? It was just a sleepover with Crew. They always had these - afterall, they were best friends and everything. She was always spending time at his house, especially when she was homesick. He seemed to lift that feeling off her shoulders anytime he was with her. He made her happy just like best friends should. Esmerelda slipped some necessary items for tonight in a plastic bag and then waltzed into her room to turn off the light. She was going to leave her cellphone home, along with anything else that might distract her. She hated when she was at someone's house and all they did was use their phones. It annoyed her half to death. Esmerelda turned off all the lights in her house before she grabbed the bag and her car keys. Then she walked outside, down her driveway, and got into car. She was pulling out and driving down the road in a matter of minutes. She pulled up to Crew's house, humming along to her choice of music. She let the towel fall off her head and she tossed it into the backseat, running a hand through her semi wet hair before jumping out of the car. She waltzed right up to Crew's front door and, instead of knocking, she let herself in. She didn't feel rude about doing that anymore - he had always told her just to come in. She slowly closed the door and stepped out of her flip flops. She lay them by the door along with her stuff. "Crew? I'm here."

THESE WORDS WERE NEVER EASY THE SECOND TIME
as soon as the eighteen year old stepped into the empty house he stepped into the shower. it was well needed in his mind along with a hair cut. his shaggy hair was not on the gracs side, but he didnt care because he really didnt know what the difference between the two sides of the city were. he thought they were all the same. his hair dried fast as he pulled on a pair of red and blue plaid pajama pants and a navy blue t-shirt. he decided to pick up the house seeing as he didnt take the best care of the house as some would like. but he was a guy, he wasnt supposed to have the house the same way as his parents left it. they didnt expect that from him either. they also didnt expect his sister and little brother not to be home as well.
even though they trusted there son not to party because crew never had a party at his house, they always thought of him as some lame druggie who liked to get drunk when he had never been drunk or high in there presence at any time at all. he picked up the magazines on the coffee table of the boring living room, in his mind. his favorite room was the music room down in the basement where all of his music was played, except his favorite instruments were up in his room. other than that, they were all downstairs with a soundproof door. lets just say his mother no long liked the way music sounded after his real father had left. the car rides were no longer full of music and singing and dancing. it was a real shame to crew. he hated the silence.
hearing his voice being called from downstairs, he ran down the stairs knowing that it was essie. he had invited her over because she always came over for a sleepover when both of there parents were out or just one or the other. so, hearing his name called by the red head, he put on a big grin as he ran down to her. "hey, essie." he said giving her a hug as grabbed her things. taking her hand, he escorted her up to his room even though she of course knew where it was from being in the house many times before. he was glad that she now let herself in, and crew always hated showing people around his house. he would never make a great tour guide. it would be full of head scratches and 'ums'. "im glade you came." he said to her as he sat on his already made bed. crew's bed was always made. and he didnt turn on the lights seeing as it was almost dark out, but he never was a fan of the light.

YOU'RE STARING ME DOWN, A GLANCE MAKES ME WEAK. Psh. Esmerelda hated this whole so called "war" thing. It made no sense to her at all, like I've said tons of tons before. Still, she was labeled as a Grac...whatever. She thought that the entire student body would be past all that bullshit by the time middle school had ended, but obviously not. If people wanted to go and be immature, they could go right ahead. They just weren't allowed to bring Es into it, because if they did, all Hell was going to break loose. Okay, not really ALL Hell. But a lot of it. She was a drama queen, okay? She was just going to kick back, relax, and mind her own business until this silly thing was ended. Thank god for the pen pal stuff. She supported that, yeah...even though she considered it a little idiotic that she had to do it, too. Esmerelda would never throw a party at her house, any of her houses, without her parents' permission. Actually, even with their consent she probably wouldn't do it. She wasn't a party type of person...yeah, those weren't her scenes. She liked the parties she attended for the company she worked for, but other than that, parties were never in her list of things to do. She would much rather stay home and watch a movie or go out to eat or something than go to a party and get talked into doing something she didn't want to do. Yeah, I know, she's way too responsible for anyone's liking. Well, after living in a small town such as Galion in your own house without your family, you become pretty darn mature. You should anyway. Es would never be able to play music. She loved all types of music and certainly enjoyed listening to it, but to actually play it seemed impossible. When she took guitar in freshman year, she didn't understand any of it and it annoyed her until the semester was over, when she could change classes. She guessed she just wasn't meant to play music - the only thing she could really play well was a tamborine. And last time she held one of those, she was in third grade and was taking her daily music class. Haha. She heard Crew greet her and Es was instantly pulled out of her thoughts. She returned the hug with one arm and then followed him as he lead her up the stairs by hand. When they got to his room, she just smiled, her eyes scanning it. It was all familiar to her, so it wasn't like she was going to stop and tell him how cool it was or anything. "I'm glad I came, too." She replied in her sweet, hushed voice. She sat down next to him, her grin still on her face. "Thanks for inviting me. I like when we chill." She added thoughtfully, biting down on her lip and running a hand through her long red hair.

FOR YOU TO SECOND GUESS
crew was made to play music. he lived it, breathed it, and wanted to be a part of it. it not only was something that he choose, but it ran in his blood. from his head to his toes. it pumped his blood and sent signals to his finger tips to make his play just what he needed to play. so, it came naturally to him. it was all he ever wanted to love and learned to love. he was waiting for his mother to say he couldnt play music in her house. she had already put up the sound proof door, and when that day came, that would be the first day crew would ever look into his mother's old eyes and tell her every bad thing she had ever done to him and the day he would be kicked out of the house, but she couldnt kick out someone who was already packed up to leave with a collage waiting for him on the other side of the world, far away from her. far away from the city's life.
it wasnt that he never loved the little city to bits, because he did, just not all the people in the city. even though he knew it wasnt going to be the same anywhere else in the world he went. somewhere there was always division between the rich and poor, black and white, and between east and west. finding a place that did not have that was a dream since the kid moved to the bland city of colourful but deadly lights that didnt want to make him jump up and down with joy. "so do i." he said as she sat next to him on the bed. he twirled his fingers in her long hair. he tended to do that a lot. it was hard not to touch her hair, he loved it so much. it was just as soft and gentle as her voice. it was the only voice that was ever soft and gentle anymore.

YOU'RE STARING ME DOWN, A GLANCE MAKES ME WEAK. Esmerelda knew that Crew was meant for music. He had played her a couple of things before and let me tell you, she found them all amazing. Then again, she found anything Crew did amazing - well, most things anyway. She knew she wasn't the type of girl for big stages and loud, screaming fans - no, she'd just stick to the runway. Yes, the runway. Her favorite place in the world, aside New York. Es never even thought getting kicked out of her house was a possibility. No, she was good to her family. They all loved eachother way too much to even fight half the time. I know I make them sound like total hippies, but they're anything but that. They just love eachother, that's all. More than a lot of families are used to living one another. Es would do anything to be with her family. Honestly, she would. She wanted nothing more than to be on that cruise with her entire family, away from this place. Away from everyone here...except Crew. See, these sleepovers were nice. They got her mind off of everything that was going on, and Crew just added to that. She loved him to pieces, both friendly and nonfriendly. Not like she would tell him about the nonfriendly way, though. It wasn't like he'd feel the same about her or anything. No, she was sure he knew someone much more intriguing than her. Esmerelda felt him touch her hair and she shuddered, but that was probably just because she was cold. She just sat there, not knowing what to say. Not knowing what to do except smile. Honestly, he put her in this position a lot: where she couldn't think of anything to do but smile or just listen to him.

MUSIC IS WHERE I WOULD LIKE YOU TO TOUCH
crew loved to watch es's runway. she was stunningly beautiful, he just liked to have his bathroom break if she came out in some sort of lingerie or when she did, he had to wash his eyes out with soap or something. he wasnt sure if having those sort of feelings for someone he was with alone for long periods of time was okay unless she had the same kinds of feelings. it was hard, though. crew was a guy with teenage hormones, and she was a pretty girl. everyone knows what that equals even if you were the worst person in the world at math. it was only natural for him to have feelings for someone he got along so well with, even if it did bring other thoughts in his mind.
he felt her shudder from underneath his hand. he moved it out of her hair, his cheeks turned crimson for a split second. he didnt want to put her under that position, only he noticed he did it a lot. again, it wasnt his fault. no wonder why his friends told him that girls and guys cant stay friends forever without any other feelings getting in the way. and of course crew would be terribly crushed if the girl called him up telling him she had a boyfriend. he probably woundt talk to her any more or be a piss off to the poor guy, wondering why he wasnt any better than him. "sorry." he said as he dropped his hand, laying back on his bed and looking up at the ceiling, shutting his eyes for a moment and sighing.

YOU'RE STARING ME DOWN, A GLANCE MAKES ME WEAK. Crew being there at a couple of her runways really did make Esmerelda feel so happy. It was nice to see another face in the crowd, not just her family or all the guests there. It was nice to see a guy she truly cared about sitting in the seats cheering her on. Really. It never occurred to her how weird it must have been for him, though: seeing his best friend strutting down the runway in lingere, if he ever did see her like that. She felt awkward, yeah, she felt more awkward than ever when she finished and was backstage thinking about it. It must have been gross for him to see her...ew, the thought scared her herself. She secretly wondered if it attracted him to her, though. Haha, yeah right. Crew Mahem, attracted to Esmerelda Starr? That didn't seem very logical at all. They were just best friends, that was all they were and all they ever would be. She needed to realize that. She knew that if she kept hoping like that, one day she was going to get herself hurt. She was going to hold on for too long and then he was going to come and tell her that he was dating some chick, and then she was just going to be left utterly dazed, confused, and perhaps a little heartbroken. Still, she couldn't help but hang on just a little longer. What could that hurt? She heard him apologize and she shook her head, falling back onto the bed as well and closing her eyes. "Not your fault." She whispered, turning on her side so she was facing him. She smiled at him. "I think I'm just cold or something."

DONT STOP DANCING
crew had never been that popular with girls and he just never really paid attention to that fact either. crew was crew. sure, he had feelings for other girls, but he never let himself seeing as essie was always around. he never put that as a bad thing. more like a good thing in his mind. it made him not be stupid, yet if she ever found that out, he didnt want her to feel bad for her to be the reason for his not so many girlfriends, more like no good girlfriend in his life time. he never found it to awkward to be with her. he usually tried to put his feelings aside so they could have normal conversations without him totally staring at her the whole entire time with her correcting his eyes. that would just be totally and utterly embarrassing for the eighteen year old.
he tried for people not to correct his eyes. it made his flush red in a way he didnt want to. of course he couldnt ever help where his eyes wondered to. he rolled onto his side as she laid back after he had said sorry to her and did the same so they were no facing each other. to most people being home alone with a pretty girl in a bedroom sounded really sketchy, but not if it was in crew mahem's house. then it was the opposite, yet no one ever saw him for who he really was for some reason. not all gracs were jocks that had to have parties every day to get a little action. he grinned a toothy grin when she said she was cold, he rolled on top of her, straddling her slightly, his hands on either side of her head. "really, is that so? not for long." he said to her, staring down at her almost to close to her face.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK. A lot of people found it surprising when Esmerelda confessed that she wasn't exactly known in the boy department. Well, she was probably known...just not targetted. Only because half the time, when people did target her, she really wasn't interested at all. Esmerelda was never really into the relationship thing, especially at her age. She didn't think it really meant something in highschool...well, the early highschool years. She always thought it was just that boyfriend/girlfriend craze people had. Then Crew had to come around, and now, anytime he was near her, Esmerelda was nearly heels over head. She wasn't sure if she loved him, or if she just cared about him a lot...whatever it was, it gave her that warm fuzzy feeling people get inside when something good happens. Esmerelda could stand people criticizing her - like strangers and stuff, but she hated when her friends criticized her. Like if she was having a conversation with a friend, and then they randomly pointed out that her shirt was hanging too low or something, it made her feel so...alien. It didn't offend her, it just made her feel incredibly awkward and made her blush darker than usual. And then she walked around feeling self concious all day and holding her books close to her chest and keeping her eyes on the ground. She watched as he rolled on top of her and she giggled shaking her head under him. She felt his hands on the side of her face and she just grinned at him, her eyes locked on his. "Burrrr." She joked, resting one of her hands on the side of his neck.

unlike girls, crew did not have people telling his his pants or shorts were to short or his shirt was to low. that would be the day. he had more of a problem with the fact of forgetting to zip his fly on his jeans. it wasnt like he just wore whitey tighties either, crew had an arrangement of brightly coloured boxers and plaids as well that could probably be seen through his jeans if they were any lighter or thinner. so, the unzipped fly and the brightly coloured boxers did not make for a good match and resulted in flushed cheeks. plus, no one at school was ever forgiving about there words. what was said, was said. that was that. he was generally a nice guy. he didnt do that to his friends.
he wasnt afraid of his friends. crew wasnt afraid of anyone for that matter. it wasnt like they were any bigger than him, not the crew was huge. he was tall and skinny. the only person that ever scared him was this overweight girl when he was in fifth grade who always threatened to jump on him seeing as he was so much smaller than she was, and she ended up having a crush on poor boy. that was the worst part. now looking into the girls eyes it made him all warm and fuzzy feeling. and his hand on his neck made his mind go blurry. of course, not thinking he leaned his head down, kissing her lips before realizing what he had just done and rolled off of her. the eighteen year old was always good at messing things up. he tended to do that a lot.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK. See, back in her city, girls who talked to other girls like that usually meant it, just like they did here. But they'd eventually apologize. Well, not here in Galion, they didn't. Esmerelda supposed it was just because of all the rivalry conflicts going on and how everyone here seemed to have some goal to hurt someone's feelings every day. That wasn't how Es was, and she would never be like that. If she ever said anything mean, she'd apologize like five seconds afterwards. She hated being mean, and she hated being thought as a mean person. Especially since she was probably the nicest girl at Galion. Her words were sweet, her voice was quiet, and her loyalty was endless. Loyalty didn't seem very popular around here. Es would sometimes realize that whoever made her feel stupid or ugly really wasn't her friend at all. They still seemed to act like it, though, and Es could never be as mean to them as they were to her. Anyone who wasn't really her friend but acted like it still got talked to no matter what, even if it killed Es. Like I said, Esmerelda was usually very kind and sincere, but if someone really pushed her over the edge, I mean - REALLY pushed her over the edge, they'd never speak another word to her again. That was why Es tried to stay out of all the conflicts around here, aside of them being totally immature. She kept looking up at Crew while he looked at her, and the next thing she knew, he was kissing her. She felt chills run through her body for the second time that night until he rolled off of her. She pressed her fingers to her tingling lips and just sat there. "Um, okay...?" She wasn't sure what to do, but she really didn't want to leave. "Why'd you um...yeah, stop?"

THIS CANT LAST FOREVER
crew really wasnt one to get into to many fights. he had a few in the past because of his friends being idiots to him, but guys usually got over fights a lot faster than girls did. that was everyone but crew who didnt become best friends with someone the next day if they made fun of him and they got in a fight the day before. the last fight he was in was when he was ending up his sophmore year and he was friends with essie then and one of his friends said something mean to her when she was sitting next to crew. of course essie, being quiet, she didnt say anything back, but his friend said another thing to her, and crew punched him dead on in the stomach after telling him to shut up before. it was more shock that ran through his friend because crew's fist just came out of no where and ended up in the guys stomach. that was the last fight, but there was more before it.
crew didnt feel like there kiss was awkward. in fact, he enjoyed the kiss to death and didnt want to stop, but his other feelings pushed him off of her. it felt to him like they had been kissing forever, not like that was there first time. he would of liked to of been kissing her from the start. of course, hearing her next words made the kiss more okay than he thought it had. knowing that she didnt want him to stop made him feel better about it. if she didnt then she would of left and never talked to him ever again until the thought wore out of her mind. he grinning at her, moving back on top of her to kiss her again, a nice tender kiss. crew was anything but a sloppy kisser.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK. Esmerelda had never really gotten into a fight before. Well, physically, anyway. It didn't make sense to her to inflict pain on someone else if you were mad at them - really, it didn't. That was probably hypocritical, though, because Es had smacked a couple of boys before when they did something rediculously stupid and pissed her off. The few fights Es had gotten in were strictly verbal, and weren't as violent as they could be. No, Es never once cussed...honest. She didn't cuss, and it wasn't because she found it inappropiate, it was just because she knew better vocabulary. Haha. I know, my character is slightly a perfectionist. Es didn't understand why he had stopped. Had she done something wrong? Sure, she didn't exactly kiss him back, but that was only because she wasn't expecting it. It still felt nice, though, and when he had stopped, she felt sad. And cold again. Stupid boy, giving her chills like that. Haha. If Es really wanted him to stop or if she felt awkward in the slightest way, she would have gotten up and left. That was certain. But no, she was just curious as to why he had stopped anyway. She watched as he rolled onto her again and she laughed, knowing what was going to happen before it did. But when he kissed her, she put her hand right on the side of the neck she had before. She closed her eyes and kissed him back, soft, delicate. She was not one for the gross, too fast, disorganized kisses.

the only reason the boy had stopped the first time was because of the fact that the thought of he was now kissing his best friend traced through his thoughts and echoing in his brain. if that didnt make him stop to think for a moment, than what would? he didnt know how she would react to his lips on hers if he didnt even know how to react himself. so, he stopped for a moment to ask himself what he had just done and if he should continue, but with her words, he took no hesitation to continue with what he had started. he kissed her back when she kissed back, getting deeper and deeper and more into the kiss, his tongue slidding across the bottom of her lip. if there was no one to stop the eighteen year old, then he wouldnt stop, ever. he never thought kissing her would be this good. it was ten time better than he ever thought it would be. it had been a long time since he had kissed a girl seeing as the only girl he ever wanted to kiss was essie, and now that it was happening, he wasnt sure what to think of it. he wasnt even thinking anymore.

LIPS FOR BITING. Okay, yeah, this was incredibly weird. Here Es was, her best friend lying on top of her, and they were kissing. Chills were being sent through her body and she knew why. Anytime Crew touched her, she got the shivers sent down right to her bones, and she didn't care anymore. No, now she was used to it. She felt kind of bad for kissing him, though. Not because she didn't mean it, but because...I don't know, what if he didn't feel the same way about her and his hormones were the ones kissing her? Yeah, that would suck. She felt his tongue against her bottom lip and she swallowed hard, her heart pounding hard in her chest. She stopped, pushing his face away for a minute. She just stared at him and took a deep breath. "Okay, sorry." She said with a nod, quickly attaching her lips to his again and wrapping her arms around his neck. Woo, this was interesting.
