JEREMY RAE MARINGO
picture of your character here.[/img] THEBASICS , full name , Jeremy Rae Maringo
nickname , Jerr and pretty much anything else you can think of.
gang , riots
date of birth , march 3
age&year , sixteen , junior
sexuality , straight
APPEARANCE , turn around there's those eyes again.
face claim ,
general , Jeremy is not your classically pretty girl. her face is not the face of the girl next door. Jeremy has a different face, unique some would say. others may say awkward, but they are few and far between. Jeremy doesn't have classical looks, those typical traits that people always seem to look for. Her Beauty is something different and stunning, captivating. the face of Jeremy Maringo is not one to be forgotten.
f a c e Her jaw line is sharp and a little bit square, with a smoothly rounded chin. she doesn't have a particularly large face, but then again it is not squished and compact, but proportionate. Her completion is a little bit on the pale side of tanned, and clear. Jeremy has naturally clear skin, but she still keeps up with a cleansing routine to make sure that it stays that way. Her flesh is stretched smoothly over her features, and she doesn't appear to have any extra anywhere. Her lips are full and rounded and pale pink in color. and behind them Jeremy has a set of perfectly straight pearly whites as a result of two years of braces. Her nose is of medium size, a little flat on the bridge and the slightest bit crooked, but it blends well into the rest of her face and doesn't appear to be large or dominant or noticeably crooked unless you study it hard enough. She has high cheek bones, but they aren't very prominent or really all that noticeable. Her eyes sit a good distance apart if not a little wide, and level with each other. they are large and almond shaped and a brilliant hazel green color. She’s got long eyelashes and always wears eye make-up. Her forehead is small in size, but there is nothing particularly exciting about it. its just a forehead.
h a i r Jeremy's hairstyle isn't particularly 'normal' either. she doesn't have naturally dead straight and thin hair like many people do. oh no. naturally, Jeremy's hair is a wavy mess and she's got enough body in there for at least four other people. But, Jeremy tries to use what she's got to her advantage, after all, she has to live with it for the rest of her life, so why not make the best of it? Jeremy usually wears her hair straightened and messy. she’s not really a big hair products person either, she’s got the stuff she needs to make her hair do what she wants and that’s it. she doesn't need eight hair sprays that she’s never going to use taking up space on her dresser. When Jeremy's hair isn't straight and down, then its either curly and down, curly and up or straight and up. but most often, you'll find her with either of the two choices containing the word straight. Jeremy's not a huge fan of her curly hair, but she likes it a little wavy sometimes. Jeremy's hair is cut to start off with short pieces at the top and get longer as you move down, and the longest pieces reach to about 1/3 of the way down her back. Jeremy's natural hair color is a dark chestnut brown, but she likes to dye it a lot and gets bored with the colors of it easily.
b o d y Jeremy is a rather small girl, only reaching a height of 5'3 and a half" and weighting in at around 107 pounds. She doesn't try to weigh such a little amount, she just does. and it seems that no matter how much she eats, she still wont gain a pound. But, she doesn't look grossly skinny and doesn't have bones jutting out every which way. she looks healthy. Jeremy, as to be expected from her height and her weight, isn't built very big. she's got size six shoes and little hands too. she doesn't really have too much of a butt or too large of a chest, but she's got enough there to fill out her shirts and jeans. Jeremy may be small, but she’s fit. strong and fit. She likes to keep herself in shape, it makes her feel good. she doesn't feel good when she sits around and does nothing. she enjoys dance and skateboarding and running as well, and those hobbies help to keep her fit.
c l o t h i n g s t y l e maybe she doesn't have the most unique clothing style in the world, but Jeremy tries to be a little off the main tracks when it comes to her clothing style. She's big into brand names like Volcom and Etnies, but not so much into designer stuff. Jeremy shops really anywhere that with anything that catches her eye. those regular mainstream shops in the mall, skate shops, thrift stores, small boutiques, online and at vintage clothing stores. In her closet, you could expect to find bright colors, patterns and numerous belts. her day to day outfit would consist of Jeans or some other pants that she likes and a t-shirt, with a hoodie when its cold. most of her hoodies are zip-ups, and she wears them half done up. on her feet, Jeremy will wear either skate shoes, her converses, her checkered vans or flip flops, rarely anything else. Jeremy would be the girl to wear short jean shorts with full length black leggings, numerous belts, a bright colored shirt and beads around her neck. Jeremy is good at putting her outfits together, though she doesn't always intend to and no matter what it is, Jeremy always manages to pull it off. Jeremy is the type of person who will wear sweat pants and baggy hoodies out in public. she doesn't really care too much. Jeremy is not huge on accessories, really. she doesn't wear bracelets on her wrists, just hair ties. the odd time she wears beads around her neck, and its rare for her to change her earrings. she is big on belts, big chunky sunglasses, hats / headbands and scarves though. shes got many belts and a few hats that she likes to wear. Jeremy likes vintage things, and wore all the types of 'vintage' styles and big sunglasses before they came into style. another style she likes is a 'punky/skater' look. she mixes many different styles together to create her own look and her clothing style changes from day to day, so there is no way to really put a label to it. one day she could look punky and the next day a little preppy. its all about how she feels that particular day. pretty much, Jeremy wears what she feels like, when she feels like it.

detailed , w h e r e i t a l l b e g a n Junior high graduation. its a big day to celebrate right? and what better way to celebrate than to have a party that night? alcohol and pills, loud music and lots and lots of people. of course, these parties are supposed to be geared toward all the lucky fourteen and fifteen year olds who have just graduated junior high, but of course other and older people get involved too. i mean, what’s a party without a few high school seniors and even some college freshmen and sophomores? nothing that’s what. Fourteen year old Marina Ryan had just graduated junior high, and was having the time of her life at the biggest party in town. the party life was nothing new to Marina, she'd been at this for a few years now and was known to be a bit of a whore. it was to be expected that Marina had already drank a ton and swallowed down a pill or two, but the night was just getting started. Marina had been flirting with twenty-one year old Phillip Barons throughout the night, she remembered meeting him at a few other parties and hooking up with him a few times. But that night, things went a little farther than just a kiss and maybe a hand up her shirt. The two left the party early, and later that night, in the back seat of Phillip's '68 impala, Jeremy Rae was conceived.
t h e b e g i n n i n g around nine months after junior high graduation, on a particularly warm march night, at around three in the morning, fifteen year old Marina Ryan gave birth to a baby girl. This baby had never been in Marina's plans. she didn't want a child so early in life. Marina knew who the father was, she hadn't been that wasted on grad night. but, Phillip refused to talk to Marina after she told him she was pregnant. so, Marnia knew two things about this baby, even before it was born. it had ruined her life, and she had to get rid of it. but Marina couldn't bring herself to get an abortion. so, she decided to have the baby, but she never held the baby girl, never even looked at her after she was born. all Marina did was sign the papers putting her up for adoption, and also the ones legalizing the baby's name as Jeremy Rae __________, the last name would be filled in when the baby was adopted. and when the doctors gave her the okay, Marina left. As for baby Jeremy, she spent the first four months of her life as property of the government, and the first month and a half of her life in the hospital under the watchful eye of the nurses there. Jeremy wasn't kept there for reasons of her health, but because the orphanage couldn't take babies under six weeks old. so, Jeremy stayed in third floor nursery at the hospital. the nurses took good care of her, and some of the usual ones grew sort of attached to her over time, she was a rather pleasant baby. on her six week mark, little Jeremy Rae was transferred to the orphanage, where she was taken care of by the nurses there. Jeremy was one of two baby's at the orphanage, and she stayed there for the next two and a half months of her life before she was adopted by a single woman by the name of Adelle Maringo at the age of four months old.
t h e e a r l y y e a r s Of course, at first, baby Jeremy wasn't very trusting of Adelle. but that only lasted a few days. after that, Jeremy was convinced that Adelle was her mother. but, the people at the orphanage had encouraged Adelle to tell Jeremy that she was her mother, it would give Jeremy a better sense of having a normal childhood, and she could find out the real story when Adelle felt appropriate. of course, Adelle was thrilled at this, as she would never be able to have children of her own, but had always wanted someone to call her mom. She treated Jeremy with the same care as she would have her own baby, but Jeremy was like her child anyways. Jeremy learned to walk and talk a little earlier than most babies, and her first word was "picture", pronounced more like "pitkure", as she pointed to the photo of Adelle holding her taken shortly after Jeremy was adopted. Picture seemed a bit of a long word for a baby’s first, but it was some insight into Jeremy's future passion.
t h e y o u n g e r y e a r s Jeremy lived a normal and action packed childhood. she was a busy child and seemed to be always doing something. weather it be playing in the mud and ruining her dresses while at a brunch, playing house with her girlfriends or super heroes with her guyfriends, playing with her hot wheels cars and dolls at home, watching cartoons or playing with Adelle, Jeremy was always doing something. and she was always beat at the end of the day, and always in bed at a reasonable hour. Jeremy wasn't one of those kids who kept their parents up all night. she was, however, one of those kids who liked to snuggle up in their parents bed and sleep there. but Adelle never seemed to mind. Like most little girls, Jeremy liked to play dress up and put ridiculous amounts of make-up all over her face and do her hair up in all sorts of fancy clips and wear Adelle's jewelry and heels. Adelle played with Jeremy and even let Jeremy dress her up and do her hair and make-up sometimes. Adelle was a good mother to young Jeremy, she bought her toys and made sure she was fed well, and kissed all her scraped knees better. Adelle adored Jeremy, and Jeremy adored Adelle. Jeremy always talked about how she wanted to grow up to be just like her mommy and how she wanted to be a photographer just like her too. Adelle taught Jeremy how to use a camera at a young age and bought Jeremy her first camera for her sixth birthday. it wasn’t professional grade, or even all that expensive, but it was something for Jeremy to start off with. right from kindergarten and learning her basics, Jeremy never did very well in school. it wasn't because she didn't try or because she was always too busy fooling around or not paying attention. it was upsetting for Jeremy too, when she couldn't understand and all the other kids could. and when her writing was messier and her spelling was worse and all her "e's" were backwards and she failed every spelling test. so, finally, half way through first grade, Adelle took Jeremy to be tested for mental disabilities, but all that was found was a very mild case of dyslexia. The doctors said that it wouldn't get any worse, and that if anything, it would probably just get milder. and it did. over time, Jeremy learned to write the letter "e" facing the correct direction, she could understand better and her writing got a bit neater. the only thing that didn't improve much was her spelling, but because of her dyslexia, Jeremy never had to take spelling tests anymore.
t h e i n b e t w e e n y e a r s Unlike many young girls, Jeremy never grew apart from Adelle as she got a little older. they never seemed to fight as much either. maybe it was because it had always been just the two of them, and they had always been really close. but then, Adelle got a boyfriend. sure, Dave was nice and all, but Jeremy didn't like him. actually, she hated him. Jeremy was stubborn as hell, and thought that Dave was stealing her mom away from her. Jeremy explained this to Adelle, who gave Jeremy a hug and told her that no one would ever come before her. Jeremy was content with that, but still a little pleased when Dave moved away and the relationship ended only a month after it had started. she felt bad though, for being happy for Adelle's loss. But, Adelle said that she had been planning to break it off anyways because it was getting a little too serious too fast for her likings. After the short Dave episode, Life went back to normal. Adelle Jeremy her first skateboard for her eightth birthday, after Jeremy had said that she wanted to learn. Skateboarding was something that Jeremy seemed to pick up rather quickly. what she didn’t teach herself, fifteen year old Josh next door taught her. Josh was Jeremy's first crush. he was much older than she, she knew. she also knew that it was silly to like a boy so much older, but she did anyways. and, of course, even though she knew that nothing could ever come of the crush, Jeremy was still smushed when Josh got a girlfriend. let's just say that Josh soon figured out why Jeremy wasn't speaking to him any more, and explained to her that he did like her, but she was just too young. Jeremy said she knew, and went on like it never happened.
When Jeremy turned nine, Adelle bought her a better camera, and said that if Jeremy wanted, she would teach her a little about photography. Jeremy took her up on the offer. at first, Jeremy had said that she wanted to be a photographer because Adelle was one. now, she wanted to be one because she loved it, and she was good at it. Photography became one of Jeremy's biggest pastimes. whenever she felt she had nothing to do, she would go and take pictures. Shortly after she turned eleven, Adelle decided that it was time to tell Jeremy her story. so, one day after school, while Jeremy was having a snack, Adelle sat down and told Jeremy the story. Jeremy wasn't sure how to take it, she couldn't be mad at Adelle. Jeremy was never one to cry very often, but she burst out in to tears, asking why her mother hadn't wanted her. it was weird calling someone else mother. Jeremy was a little off her edge for a few days after she found out, but she still continued to call Adelle mom. Jeremy only ever told her best friend the story, and no one else. she didn't want other people to know. she didn't want their pity, she didn't want them to care. because she had realized that she didn't care either. As each young girl does, Jeremy had her awkward stage. only, hers seemed a little longer than most. During her eleventh and twelfth years, Jeremy was indeed a little awkward. but not in the developing sense. Jeremy was a little bit slow in that department, and while other girls were growing in height and chest size, Jeremy stayed short and, well... flat. but Jeremy didn't care. what she lacked in physique, she made up for in personality. Jeremy was clumsy, but somehow managed to make something funny out of it most of the time. and while most other girls were far more developed that she, Jeremy managed to have the supposedly cutest boy in their class writing her love letters. but Jeremy wasn't interested in him, she hadn't even thought about relationships yet. other than a few crushes here and there, but those were just crushes. During her twelfth year, and also her first year of junior high, Jeremy started wanting to go out with her friends. Jeremy had gone out with her friends before, just not at night and not for the same purposes. of course, Adelle agreed to let Jeremy go out, but she had to be home by ten o'clock. she explained that she knew it was early, but when Jeremy turned thirteen, then her curfew would be extended to eleven o'clock, and then to midnight when she was fourteen and so on. Jeremy didn't argue, she was just happy to be able to go out. so, as you may have guessed already, Jeremy had her introduction to alcohol at the age of twelve.
t h e t e e n a g e y e a r s Thirteen. yes! Jeremy was finally a teenager. Adelle bought Jeremy another camera for this birthday, but this was a good one and should last her a while. on the day of her birthday, Jeremy celebrated with her mom, by watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and eating popcorn. the only reason for this was that her birthday was on a Thursday and she couldn't go out on a school night. the real party was Friday night., and Jeremy was going to get to celebrate with her new curfew of eleven o'clock. It was a pretty eventful night for Jeremy, containing more than one first for her. her got high for the first time, and she got her first kiss. well real kiss, not the kind you get in elementary school or while playing kissing tag. Thirteen was a good year for Jeremy. she partied lots, but also got lots of down time too. Jeremy's fourteenth year blended pretty well into her thirteenth one. but, during her fourteenth year she got a little more hard core into the partying. she took ecstasy for the first time, and a few times after that and she started drinking more and a little more often and she started getting high during lunch hour at school on occasion, something that she wouldn't have even considered before. Jeremy also let something that started as a kiss get a little too far. but, at least it wasn't against her own will, right? no, Jeremy wasn't turning into a whore. she wasn't. she refused to be. Jeremy didn't even believe in casual sex, but she had let it happen... but Jeremy soon realized that it wasn't worth all that stress and she just let it go. Her fourteenth year was also big for Jeremy in her photography. with the camera she got for her thirteenth birthday she was able to take way more and way better pictures, and she was the top student in her photography class that year. i guess i made it sound like her life was all about party party party. but it wasn't. Many weekends, yes, Jeremy did party party party. but there were others where she would just stay home and watch movies or go to the park with friends and goof off, play hide and go seek or something childish like that, or just hang out with her mom, go shopping or watch old movies. she and her mom even took off to Mexico for two weeks over the spring break. Jeremy still had a really good relationship with her mother, and many people told her she was lucky. Jeremy never denied it, because she knew she was. The end of her fourteenth year and the beginning of her fifteenth year were big ones for Jeremy development wise. she grew three and a half inches in height, and was now five feet, three and a half inches tall instead of the five feet she had been since the sixth grade. she also filled out a lot and her face changed a bit. now, she couldn't pass for an eleven-year-old. she looked her age.
Jeremy's fifteenth year had to be the worst year of her entire life. well, not the whole thing was bad. actually, most of it was good. for her birthday, Adelle bought Jeremy the Jack Russell terrier puppy that she wanted. Jeremy named him Chaos. and other than that, Jeremy had a sweet boyfriend, she partied lots, her grades were okay, she got to spend lots of time doing what she wanted, her photography was really coming along and so was her skateboarding, she still had a good relationship with her mom and she had gotten a job at the local Zumies in the mall and had a discount there. her life seemed all too sweet. But Jeremy didn't really take into account just how sweet. she didn't realize that it was almost too sweet to be true. and it was, she realized it when her world came crashing down. Adelle was diagnosed with Leukemia. apparently she had had it for a long time, but it only showed signs recently. and her chances were only about 50%. Jeremy had never believed in god before, but after that news she prayed each and every night. but when Adelle was lost to the disease, all Jeremy could do was scream and cry how she hated the world and how she didn't believe that there was a god because if there was then he would have never let this happen. Adelle left everything to Jeremy. but, Jeremy couldn't live in the house all by herself. so she had to pack up everything, sell what she couldn't take and move. she moved into her best friends house, and lived there for a while. Jeremy fell away into a depression after Adelle passed away. she didn't try to commit suicide, no. instead she partied away her time. taking any and every kind of drug, and drinking herself into unconsciousness. this went on for almost two months before, one day, Jeremy suddenly realized that she was doing it all wrong. her life i mean. and yeah, it was like that. it was like on night when she went to press a pill to her tongue and a bottle to her lips she just stopped and thought 'wait, what am i doing?'. Jeremy realized that there was no point in what she was doing, and she had to stop. Adelle would want her to make something of her life. to go somewhere. do be somebody. Jeremy could see the look on Adelle's face if Jeremy turned out to be just another girl who over dosed in an alleyway, she could see the tears streaming down her pale cheeks. Jeremy figured that there was only one way to get away from it all. to save herself. so, she bought a one way plane ticket to california, packed her things, said her goodbyes and left.

Oliver. OH MY WOW
today was just one of those days for dear miss Oli. one of those days where she would lay awake in bed, staring at the ceiling, or burying her head beneath her pillow in an attempt to fall asleep. she hadn't been woken up by some random events conspiring against her, or by some random noise or anything insignificant like that. no, instead, by some freak of nature, her alarm clock had decided to go off at 3:30am. it was one of those old fashioned alarm clocks, the ones with the bells on top, so the only way that it would stop ringing was if it fell on the floor or if Oli became too annoyed with it and threw it against the wall. in this case, she resorted to the second option. she grabbed the cool silver clock and flung it across the room in great annoyance, and it slammed into the wall, then hit the floor with a loud thud. "well, there's another dent in the wall..." thought flickered through her mind as she rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. that desperate attempt lasted about half an hour, until Oliver finally came to terms with the fact that she was not going to get back to sleep. only then did she get up and drag her lazy butt across the room to pick up her clock and see that it was only 4am, of course, poor Oli had been completely oblivious to the time until now. "ah fuck." muttered lyrics escaped her vocals as she simply dropped the clock back to the floor and ran her hand through her hair.
oliver had never really been a morning person. well, she liked the mornings i guess, when she was awake to see them, she enjoyed them. she liked the feeling that she was the only one awake in the world, and the way that everything was still, peaceful. so it wasn't that she didn't like the mornings, it was more that she was just never awake to see them. you see, oliver had a tendency to sleep in till the later hours of the morning, around 10 or 11 o'clock. but, it was plain and clear that nature wasn't going to allow her to take the luxury of sleeping in today. maybe, there was a reason she was supposed to be up this early? some freak of fate or destiny maybe? who would ever know? rubbing her eye, Oliver made her way over to her bedside, switching the tall floor lamp that was beside her bed on, lighting up the whole of her apartment. Oliver lived in the apartment, all by herself, and her living room, bedroom and main room were the same room. she also had a small bathroom and a rather pathetic little kitchen. consequences of her bedroom being the same room as her living room? her clothes and everything else were all over the place. it was sort of crowded, i guess you could say. but it was a cozy kind of crowded, not the cramped kind, where you can barely move. there were posters on the walls, her bed shoved into one corner, her couch in the middle of the room, TV against one wall, computer against another and somehow she managed to have a full length mirror on the only free wall space, a dresser right next to it against the wall and also she had a coffee table in front of her couch. the apartment looked as if a teenage girl lived there, even without the slight mess and clutter. just the way the furnisher was arranged and the posters on the wall. her kitchen barely ever got used, well.. the fridge and counter space got used, but the stove hardly ever did... see, oliver couldn't cook to save her life. she burned everything. and when i say everything, i mean everything.
while at her bedside, Oli took the thin black remote for her ipod dock and switched on the music. she set it to random and turned it up really loud. she didn't care who complained about it, the staff here didn't care enough to do anything about it. satisfied with the music, she walked over to the small kitchen and set her coffee maker. the little machine had cost her almost $200, but it made just about everything oliver liked... lattes, hot chocolates, steamers, cappuccinos, and then your plain old coffee. which was what Oliver went for today. she placed a mug under the drip and hoisted her small frame up onto the counter. yeah, her kitchen was sort of small and pathetic, but it had pretty cool decor. the floor was tiled black and white checkers and the walls were painted a bright cherry red. maybe it wasn't everybody's taste, but oliver loved it. when the coffee maker finished making her drink, Oli hopped off the counter, took her coffee and went back tot he main room. there she switched off her music, set herself on the couch, snuggled up in her down blanket and found some cartoons on the TV. yeah, oliver still liked to watch cartoons in the morning. with a sigh of content, Oli took a sop of her coffee, finding it to still be too hot, oh well. she was much happier now than she had been 15 minuets earlier.
an hour passed by, and oliver had finished her coffee long ago, but had still continued to watch the cartoons. ninja turtles had come on, and well, she had to watch ninja turtles. but after that, some stupid show that she didn't like flicked over the screen and she switched the TV off. normally, she would immediately turn her music back on, but instead, she sat there in the quiet for a few moments. she liked the quiet, it allowed her time and space to think, and there wasn't enough in the world. everything was always going in the world, especially in the city, especially in Hollywood. that was one thing oliver hated, how everything was so busy, and loud all the time. people, and cities, were a lot like bees and bee hives. buzzing with activity, everybody going every which way in a blur of color and sound, each individual set on his or her own mission. and well, it drove Oliver nuts. sure, she was a bit of a hyper individual at times, but sometimes it was nice to slow down a bit, take a step back and look on in the peace and quiet for a while, let your thoughts run wild with you, take you back in time if thats what they choose to do. just be alone with yourself. sometimes, this place just made Oli want to run out in the middle of the street and yell STOP as loud as her lungs would allow. and people would probably look at her like she was insane, then she would probably end up in an asylum somewhere. woah, slow down. with a sigh, Oliver ran her hand through her hair again, tossing off her blanket and switching on the music once more. she turned the speakers up real loud, and pulled herself from the couch. "shimmy shimmy quarter turn, feels like i'll never learn..." wow old song. Oliver sang along with the music as she made her way over to the bathroom, it was time for a shower, she felt greasy and well, gross.
the hot water felt so good running down her flesh, washing away her thoughts and troubles. showers seemed to do that for her, like some sort of therapy. she could step under the stream of water with the world on her shoulders and step out with only a feather hovering there. she washed her hair and body quickly, turning off the water when she was done. she wrung out her hair and stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her body. her still wet hair clung to her face and skull in thick strands when she released it from her hand, but she didn't really care too much. from her drawers, Oliver chose a plain black long sleeve shirt, and another white tee shirt that had black bats on the front. for pants, she chose faded blue jeans that had large holes in the knees. she dried herself off with her towel, and dressed herself quickly after that. she hated how cold she always got after having a shower. the jeans she had chosen, were too big and fitted baggy, this was a detail Oli had forgotten. she moved over to her dresser again, holding up the jeans from the back, and took out a black leather, silver pyramid belt and threaded it through her belt lops, fastening it to the last hole in the front. once she was fully satisfied that her outfit would stay in place, she went back into the washroom and dried her hair with a blow drier, straightening it with her flat iron once it was dry. she styled her hair with the smallest amount of styling wax, and applied the smallest amount of charcoal liner around her eyes. she didn't feel like wearing a whole bunch of make up today.
with her hands in her pockets, Oliver stood back in the center of her apartment, gazing aimlessly around the room. her eyes landed upon a rise against concert poster that her best friend Bridget had bought her from the concert. at that point, Oli had been too sick to go with her friend, but convinced Bree to go without her. she brought back the poster for Oliver. it had been a wonderful night, even despite the constant itch of her chicken pox. but, still, something so wonderful can only last so long. Bridget's car had been hit by a drunk driver, and dear Bree had died instantly, the only one of the 5 people in the car to die, and ever since, Oli had blamed herself for the accident. she figured that maybe, if she hadn't forced her friend to go to the concert without her, the accident wouldn't have happened. or maybe, if Bree hadn't brought her the poster, it wouldn't have happened because she would have been home long before that driver thought about leaving the bar. people had told her that it wasn't her fault, but she refused to listen to them. at the memory, Oliver felt herself begin to tear up, she wiped her eyes and moved away from where she stood, over to the huge windows by her bed. she threw back the black curtains, allowing her room to be filled by the day light. she looked out over the city streets, the few people that were out this early. Oli had a great view from her sixth story apartment, it was one of her favorite things about her home. it gave her a sense of freedom, of infinity. she felt that the world went on forever, that she was invincible and that she could almost fly when she stared out that window. it was like she was just merely a spectator, watching the world go by from a cloud, an anonymous figure that people didn't even care to notice. no, she didn't like being ignored completely, but she still liked that sense of anonymity that her window gave her. with a sigh, Oli walked over to her lamp and switched it off, grabbing her wallet and cell phone from her bedside table and shoved them into her pockets while she was there. she took the thin black remote and switched off her music, then turned and checked her make up in the mirror, to be sure it hadn't been smudges with her sudden abundance of tears. it hadn't been smudged. quickly, she ran over to her front door and sifted through her shoes until she found her old black and green checkered vans slip ons, and slipped them onto her feet. Satisfied, she went back over to her window, unhooked the latch, pushed it open, and stepped out onto the fire escape. she had put a large, round, and cushioned chair out on the little landing of the fire escape. she liked to sit out there sometimes. the building had an overhang on the roof as well, so she could even sit outside in the puring rain and watch the droplets fall, and she loved that. she loved her apartment, to put it plainly.
taking one last look over the city, Oliver began her walk down the black metal stairs of the fire escape. she walked slowly, cause the stairs made a loud rattling noise if she went down them too fast, and she didn't really feel like getting yelled at by the other people that lived in her building, and who were, no doubt, still fast asleep. Oliver always went in and out of her apartment through the fire escape. why you might ask? well, there was three reasons. one, she hated dealing with locks that involved keys. two, the lock on her door was sticky and sometimes didn't unlock. and three, she had lost her keys somewhere in her apartment. so, she just used the fire escape to get in and out of her apartment, but she didn't mind it, it wasn't like it made life difficult for her. when she reached the landing that was one level from the ground, she pushed down the stairs that were held up by springs. Oliver guessed that this was a safety feature, to have the stairs raised up from the ground... but still people could get up and down them.. all you had to do was climb onto the window ledge and grab the bar at the end, then pull them down. well, maybe someone a little taller than 5'3" wouldn't have to use the window ledge... but Oli had to, cause she was only 5'3" tall. oh well, what did that matter. she pushed down the stairs and walked down them quickly, jumping off from the fourth stair from the bottom, and as soon as her weight was off the stairs, they snapped back up into place with a loud bang. so much for being quiet. looking up and seeing the light switch on in the corner apartment of the second story of the building, Oliver took off running. the old man that lived there was crabby as hell and was likely to yell at her, or attempt to get her kicked out of the building by telling the manager. but she wouldn't get kicked out, the old man had told on her before... well threatened to at least, but oliver had simply told him that nobody likes a tattle tale. hah, how childish is that?
once she was safely around the corner, Oli settled into a walk. she looked around the street, seeing no one she knew at first. the city was just coming to life again, the night life had ended a few hours earlier, and the day was just beginning. people were starting to leave their houses and all the local coffee shops were packed with people. but Oli just walked on by, she had already had her morning pick up. she had nowhere special to be today, so she just wandered seemingly aimlessly around the streets, rounding a few more corners, still seeing no one of any interest of her. until she spotted Landon. instead of yelling out at him and causing him to notice her presence, she walked across the street so she was on the same side as him, and crept up behind him so she was maybe 20 feet away. and at that point, she took off at a dead sprint "Landon!" and with only that for a notice, she jumped on him. well, there was a typical entrance for Oli.
